AIRDRIE LIBRARY CENTENARY CELEBRATIONS
On Thursday, 25th September, the Library celebrates its 100th Anniversary in its current building.
Time Capsule
The Librarian, Katie McGrath has been working on a school’s initiative called “A Time Travellers’ guide to Libraries” with Victoria and All Saints Primary Schools.
As part of this project the children examined the past and present of Airdrie being encouraged to design what they imagine the future of Airdrie will look like.
As a neighbour to the Library, we were asked if the time capsule could be buried in our grounds under the cherry tree at the entrance and next to the library. The Kirk Session were happy to give permission.
As a result of this, we have been given the opportunity to also participate in the exercise and have been given a small time capsule to fill and be buried at the same time. This comes at an opportune moment when we too are celebrating in a smaller way. It gives us a chance to provide information about the congregation and our work to the children and citizens of Airdrie in the future.
We will pull in various items – A New Wellwynder, Order of Service, pictures, Prayer Square as well as the anniversary services.
Do you want to be involved? – if so, please take time to write a small card with a message or provide a small drawing – by next weekend!
More information about the events on 25th September will be available next week.
